GEO Tournament Certification

GEO® Tournaments Certification is an international recognition awarded to golf facilities committed to respecting nature, sustainability, and community values.

This certification process was developed and tested with the contributions and collaboration of organizations that manage major international tournaments. Among these are The R&A, the European Tour, the Scottish Open, the Waste Management Phoenix Open, the Ladies European Tour, the Solheim Cup, and the Venice Open organized by USKids and the PlayGolf54 group.

During the 2017 edition of the US Kids Venice Open, the first checks and studies on the procedures were carried out.

Since then, all subsequent editions of the US Kids Golf Venice Open have been organized with a focus on environmental sustainability. Starting from the 2018 edition and for the six subsequent editions (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024), the tournament has been officially recognized as a GEO® Certified Tournament for its commitment to promoting sustainability in and through golf.
The US Kids Golf Venice Open was the first tournament in Italy and the first in the world for young players to receive this recognition.

All activities were conducted voluntarily by the US Kids Golf Foundation and Golf della Montecchia, with strong support from the other two host venues – Golf Club Frassanelle and Galzignano Terme Spa & Golf Resort, all of which have always been committed to this cause:

  1. Golf della Montecchia – “GEO® Certified Facility” obtained in 2013 and confirmed for the fourth consecutive time in 2023, study center on “Biogolf” since 2015, “Sustainability Award 2018” awarded by IAGTO, three “Impegnati nel Verde” recognitions awarded by the Italian Golf Federation, commendation in 2022 by the R&A, STRI, and BIGGA commission within the “GEA Operation Pollinator Award” recognition, and an award from the same commission in 2024 with the title of “International Environmental Golf Club of the Year.”

  2. Frassanelle Golf Club – enrolled in “GEO OnCourse®”, two “Impegnati nel Verde” awards from the Italian Golf Federation for the safeguarding of cultural heritage and landscape management, located within the protected area of the Euganean Hills Regional Park.

  3. Galzignano Golf Club – enrolled in “GEO OnCourse®”, located within the protected area of the Euganean Hills Regional Park.

GEO® Tournaments Certification è un riconoscimento internazionale assegnato a quelle strutture golfistiche impegnate nel rispetto della natura, della sostenibilità e attente ai valori della comunità.

Questo processo di certificazione è stato sviluppato e testato grazie al contributo e alla collaborazione forniti dalle organizzazioni che gestiscono i principali tornei internazionali. Tra questi, l’R&A, l’European Tour, lo Scottish Open, il Waste Management Phoenix Open, il Ladies European Tour, la Solheim Cup e il Venice Open organizzato dalla USKids e dal gruppo PlayGolf54.

Nel corso dell’edizione 2017 dell’US Kids Venice Open sono state effettuate le prime verifiche ed i primi studi sulle procedure.

Da allora, tutte le successive edizione dell’US Kids Golf Venice Open sono state organizzate all’insegna della sostenibilità ambientale. Già a partire dall’edizione 2018 e per le sei edizioni successive (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024), il torneo è stato ufficialmente riconosciuto come GEO® Certified Tournament per l’impegno profuso nel promuovere la sostenibilità nel e attraverso il golf.

L’US Kids Golf Venice Open è stato il primo torneo in Italia e il primo al mondo riservato ai ragazzi ad ottenere questo riconoscimento.

Tutte le attività sono state condotte a titolo volontario dalla US Kids Golf Foundation e dal Golf della Montecchia, con il forte sostegno delle altre due sedi ospitanti – il Golf Club Frassanelle e il Galzignano Terme Spa & Golf Resort, tutti da sempre impegnati su questo fronte:

  1. Golf della Montecchia – “GEO® Certified Facility” conseguita nel 2013 e confermata per la quarta volta consecutiva nel 2023, centro studi sul “Biogolf” dal 2015, premio “Sustainability Award 2018” assegnato dalla IAGTO, tre riconoscimenti “Impegnati nel Verde” assegnati dalla FIG, encomio nel 2022 da parte della commissione R&A, STRI e BIGGA nell’ambito del riconoscimento ”GEA Operation Pollinator Award”, premio da parte della stessa commissione nel 2024 con l’assegnazione dell“International Environmental Golf Club of the Year”.

  2. Frassanelle Golf Club – iscritta a “GEO OnCourse®”, due premi “Impegnati nel Verde” da parte della FIG per la salvaguardia del patrimonio culturale e la gestione del paesaggio, inserito all’interno dell’area protetta del Parco Regionale dei Colli Euganei.

  3. Galzignano Golf Club – iscritta a “GEO OnCourse®”, inserito all’interno dell’area protetta del Parco Regionale dei Colli Euganei.
