An exciting new opportunity to showcase and be recognized for sustainability is now available.  With a credible Standard in place for sustainability at golf events, it is now possible to evaluate and award golf tournaments with the new distinction, GEO Certified® Tournament.  The sustainability label is available worldwide and represents the highest degree of credibility.  Custom guidance and support is also available through the OnCourse® Tournaments programme.

The Standard

A credible certification is built on an industry ‘Standard’ and over two years, an international standard was developed specifically for golf tournaments, following open consultation with the general public and an established International Expert Working Group of golf and non-golf representatives.

The Standard outlines recommended performance criteria spanning nature, resources and community, across all key aspects of tournament staging, communications and legacy and is applicable and open to tournaments of all sizes.

Some of the leading organisations and tournaments that provided support and input into the standard and the certification component included:  The R&A and The Open; The European Tour; Scottish Open; Waste Management Phoenix Open; RBC Heritage; IMG; Ladies European Tour; The Solheim Cup; US Kids Golf; The Venice Open; Waste and Resource Action Plan (WRAP); University of Cardiff; Council for Responsible Sport; EcoArenas; and Performance 54. Contact GEO to get involved or find out more.
